2022/23 Collection: Styled Shoot
On a rainy Wednesday in May we took some of our brand new collection to the most beautiful barn in Astley along with photographer extraordinaire Jo Bishop, some bouquets expertly made up by Vic at Lancashire Floristry and two of our beautiful friends for a styled shoot!
We saw Jo's work when one of our lovely brides Emma got married back in January and the photos appeared on our Instagram timeline. They were the perfect wedding pictures, natural, gorgeous light, a mix of colour & black and white, the list goes on. They just showed the day, venue and the most importantly the couple off so well without being showy, without lots of filters, without the need for the over production you see on so many wedding albums. We got in touch with her and instantly we knew she was going to be perfect, we picked a date and pencilled it in our diary. The outdoor shoot was set for the end of May!
As our new collection started to arrive we started to decide which dresses we wanted to take on the shoot, Jo got in touch with a florist she knew and asked if they would produce a couple of bouquets. We finalised the details a few weeks before and couldn't wait to see the finished result! Photos of the chosen dresses went to Vic so she could create some stunning hand tied blooms for the day and the models had a try on of the dresses. Lots of ooh's and ahh's as they compared them to their own dresses from us years ago and they had their favourites decided on!
The day of the shoot came... we awoke to rain! Rain on the ground and rain still falling! Not the best weather for an outdoor shoot but always a risk in the UK in summer. Jo put out a call for any recommendations for a venue where we could shoot in a few hours. Lots of venue suggestions came in, some more than once and some contacted us to see if we wanted to use theirs. With time not on our side Jo contacted The Barn at Morley's Hall in Astley. Wow, what an incredible venue, a converted barn turned into the most beautiful wedding venue, with small grounds for photography outside, two bars contained inside, a mezzanine (who doesn't love a mezzanine?!) and room for 180 people it was perfect. The curtain of fairy lights, high ceilings and wooden beams, beautiful barns doors, exposed brick, a wooden staircase, so many different backdrops for Jo to work her magic with and to show off our beautiful collection.
The bouquets looked and smelt amazing, and held up perfectly with us picking them up and down and by the end of the shoot remained intact and did for the rest of the week (what else could you want from your bridal bouquet?). With the models ready to go and the stunning bouquets Vic had created for us we were ready to get to work! A few hours later (and a bit of sunshine!) we were done. Pictures upstairs, downstairs, in front of the lights, barn doors, brick walls, by the pond you name it Jo got it. Our models Sam & Liz were amazing, ready for any and every shot Jo wanted to take. Jo put them at ease and is just such a people person, if you're nervous for your wedding photos or if having your photo taken is your idea of hell then Jo is your girl, honestly it was such fun watching her at work because she just loves what she does and the results are perfection. Such a good day with a great team.
Here are a few of the shots. Hope you enjoy!
